Monday, Feb 16th... Last Day.. Tourist 100%..well maybe

So today, we decided to play full blown Tourist!! We got up early and went to NBC studios for the Today show. I guess we weren't 100% tourist because a better tourist would have been there at 6:30am... we got there at 7:15am.. pushed our way through the crowd only to look at the back of the heads of Al Roker and Meredith Viera.  ( 90% tourist)

We could have jumped in front of others to get our one wave to " Mom" but, we opted out and took pictures with Mr. and Mrs. Potato head. ( 85% tourist)

Next we waited outside NBC studio to get some info on a NBC tour possibly later that day ( 89% tourist)

We didn't realize the line was forming to be the 1 of the first 50 people in line to see Patricia Arquette and receive a copy of her TV series Medium... we opted out, not interested, grabbed our mini info packets and left ( 70% tourist)

We then went back to the hotel to workout... in the hotel gym ( 80% tourist) then booked our tickets for a "On Location TV & Movie Tour" ( 100% tourist)

I think Francois slept a little during the ride ( 70% tourist) , however he managed to be awarded a lollipop after answering a trivia question on " I am Legend"..

Question: " What  is the largest loop hole of the entire movie...." Francois states, " They blow the bridge up.. therefore no one can get on the island and it is near impossible for the other people to save Will Smith and make it on the island without a way to get there"

As a matter of fact, Francois was the first tourist to guess this answer out of 200 some odd tours that our tour guide had given.. Hearing that, Francois finessed another lollipop .

We also stopped at the sites of "Friends apartment", Cosby show, Spiderman's apartment, countless Enchanted scenes.. managed to see flyers out for shootings of upcoming 30 rock episodes.. If you see a sheet of paper on a pole or anything... it usually tells you what is being shot and at what time.. for example..

Anyway, every time, we would stop.. Francois and I would listen  and then quickly make our way back to the bus... I think the SNL and Will Ferrell shows spoiled us ( 50% tourist) we left the other 50% to the German, Swiss, English, Greek, and French tourist. Here are some tourist shots we took .. ( 100% tourist)

( I am Legend House of Will Smith)

Peter Parker's Apartment in Spiderman II

Grace Adler's Design business in TV show Will and Grace

Cosby's house... however, as you  know in the show.. the stair case to go upstairs is on the right hand side ... so.. if this outside shot is correct.. they would be going up in the neighbors house. This is  what they call an "establishing shot".  They use this shot to have you think this is where they lived. The owner of the house actually got 1,000 dollars, every time it was shown. And did you know, that the original Heathcliff and Clair Huxtable were written to be a Limo driver and plumber ... since it would be impossible to believe they could afford a home in that area... they had to be Doctor and Lawyer

Friends apartment on the corner of Bedford and Grove Street

As we made our way off the bus, we headed to FAO Schwartz and managed to check out a new Whatnot shop of Muppet Making. It was really neat, creepy .. and neat.

AFTER ALL THIS... we took our 35 dollar cab back to the airport and hurried home to our little Boy BABBERS!! ...... our dog Cooper :) What a Fantastic trip!!!

Pictures of Will Ferrell " You're Welcome America" production

Inside the Cort Theater in our seats
Tickets to our show!! Will Ferrell! He is only performing for 8 weeks!!

Will Ferrell acting as George Bush, fresh in office.. take a look at this if you want a taste!
Our seats!! we were in the box seats same as Seth Myers, just opposite side of theater. Ok, look at the 4 boxes.. now look at the bottom 2. Now look at the box furthest from the stage. That is where we were sitting. You can see Seth Myers leaning between the bottom 2 boxes.

Line to go into the Cort Theater

February 15th, Sunday

After SNL was over, we were on a celebrity contact high!  Francois and I went back to the hotel, with Magnolia cupcakes in hand, to tell Jon and Stassa all about it. We were all so excited and we were going to watch the entire show again... Well. As it turned out.. the excitement drained my energy and all of us were asleep before weekend update.... OH well...

Well, next day. Jon and Stassa and I went for a run in the park again. Francois lifted weights in the gym. This time we were a little lost running .. but we still managed to see new things and take paths i had not been on from my previous run. Jon took lots of photos..

Francois and I had to get ready for our Will Ferrell Play, SO EXCITING! we Left Jon and Stassa to shopping and away we went. When we arrived at the Cort theater, there was a line.. and i had visions of being herded from one place to another again, but to our surprise as they opened the doors we went straight to out box seats, which again... are the same seats Seth Myers had during the same play we went to.  Check out pictures above of the play .

Pictures From New York on Feb 14th

Here are our seats... 2nd row. The 1st and 2nd seat from the inside, I was pretty much breathing the same air as Alec Baldwin.
Our SNL tickets!! Since you could not take pictures in the studio.. this is as good as i could get!! I recommend everyone try to get tickets at some time in their life!!

Here is a picture of Francois in the elevator. Every time we walked into the elevator, Francois would walk straight and do this... It really looks like a copy of himself is staring back him.. kinda strange looking..  funny nonetheless..

Here I am drinking a cup of coffee at the French Resturant in SoHo.  yummy ! It was anywhere from 28-40 degrees the entire time we were in NYC, and that was without the wind chill factor!!

At the Ice skating rink at Rockefeller Plaza!! Jon and Stassa got the chance to ice skate and said they had a blast.. Maybe next time we will go.. looks like fun!

Saturday, Feb 14th Valentines Day

So, Francois and I were sitting in the seats that Jack McBrayer and the dude with the white shirt were sitting in!!

Saturday, Feb 14th Valentines Day

We started the day with a run in Central Park. I loved it! As Francois and I were exploring the park and taking in all the sites, I had a moment.. in my mind I thought " I should be running a 36 mile race right now".. then the moment passed... I am soo glad to be running next to my husband and not 100s of smelly, exhausted, high strung runners. Nonetheless, we had an amazing run. We saw Wollman's rink where ice skaters were practicing their skills, deserted tennis courts ( which broke Francois' heart), Central Park Zoo, The Conservatory, The reservoir, and we were able to see beautiful homes all the way from 59th street to 110th street on two different avenues!

After our morning run, we took a cab to SoHo area, most of you may know that SoHo stands for "South Of Houston street" and you pronounce Houston like " How-stan", the New Yorkers know you are from out of town if you say Houston like " Houston we have a problem" .. ANYWAY...  Francois and I went shopping a little, we did not buy much, but we did find an amazing French Restaurant to go to called Balthazar. The food was amazing and very authentic.

Around this time, Stassa and Jon were making their way into the city from NJ. The plan was to meet up with us and spend some time together. Jon and Stassa are planning their wedding for May 16th, and it is going to be awesome. Well, Jon and Stassa were able to meet Francois and I before we went to SNL. Stas and I managed to squeeze in a little more shopping.. :)

Off we went to SNL dress rehearsal!! IT WAS AMAZING. So for all those that do know not know how to get SNL tickets, you have to enter your name in a lottery only in the month of August. Last August, Francois put our names in and BAMM... we got tickets for the Feb 14th show, which we did not know until 3 weeks ahead of time. SO, we get there, and stand in line for our real tickets, then shuffle us to another line, where they take us to the set, where we stand in line again. What i should have done was had a giant glass of water and not the street vender pretzel... i was SOO thirsty!! Anyway.

We are waiting in the hall way, you know where they do their scenes sometimes. and we see Bill Hader walking around and talking to some of us in the line.  ( you know one of the cops from Superbad)
Darrell Hammond ( who is actually pretty creepy looking in person.. he looks like that weird cousin at a family reuinon that just stands in the corner and you wonder if he works here or is he related and if so.. who produced this weird kid anyway)
Seth Meyers, mostly known for his Weekend update. We actually saw him at the Will Ferrell play as well. He had the same tickets we did but on the other side of the theater!

Jason Sudeikis, who ,that night was impersonating Joaquin Phoenix . Hilarious..... you have to watch the actual interview with David Letterman if you haven't seen it.. UNCOMFORTABLE!

And then we saw Cameron Diaz and Dan Akroyd!!! Awesome special guest !!

SOOOOOOOO, we are standing in the hall waiting to get herded in and... as we start moving.. we are walking toward the SNL band.. There we are in the second row of the SNL show. I am talking FRONT AND CENTER. Actually, when the show started one of the directors asked me to use my seat for an opening number, because another special guest was going to sit in it. Francois gets to sit next to 30 Rock's  Jack McBrayer "Kenneth" , and had we been on the actual show, Francois would have had like 2 minutes of air time!! Crazy ( check out the clip in the post above this one.  to see where we were sitting)

So our host was Alec Baldwin and musical Guest the Jonas Brothers ( which i could have cared less about the them... but some girls would have given their first born to see them play... )

The experience was amazing and I would love to go again. It really makes you appreciate the cast and their hard work.  They really are gracious to their fans. As i was walking out, I said great job to some of the actors.. and they said " oh, thanks so much for coming.. we really appreciate it... "

Friday, February 13th, Day 1, arrival

Francois and I are taking off for our honeymoon. As most of you know, Francois and I recently received tickets to the Saturday Night Live Show!! Apparently , they are hard to get. The only month that you can request them is in August. So you can imagine our excitement

However, there was a minor problem. The race that I had been training for was the same day as the tickets to SNL. I quickly decided that SNL was a much more exciting and worthwhile event than my stupid long race. So we set up plans, booked a hotel, flight, and prepared for our stay.

As time was nearing this spectacular weekend, we also decided to book our Will Ferrell tickets on Broadway. Will Ferrell is performing in a Broadway show for only 8 weeks entitled " You're Welcome America, A Final Night with George W Bush".

Friday morning, we  left around 8:00am and arrived at our hotel around 11:00 am in NYC. We stayed at the Hilton New York on 6th ave and 53rd street. We were an avenue over from 5th ave, the shopping district, and an avenue over from Broadway, and about 3 blocks down from Central Park. The location was 4 blocks away from Will Ferrell's play and 3 blocks away from SNL. Not to mention, we were only 2 blocks away from the famous Magnolia bakery!!

Here are some views of our hotel.

Oh, and as we learned on our TV / Movie tour, our hotel was featured in the movie Spider man and Enchanted.
Here is a view from our window... awesome, I know!! We had about 5 of these windows in our room... Super sweet view.

So, Francois and I walked around for a little  to get acclimated to the surroundings. we had lunch, shopped a little, and decided to go back to the hotel to make more of a game plan. Well, little did I know, Francois had planned a couples massage at the Hilton Health club and Spa. It was amazing and Deep Tissue, just what I needed!!

After this relaxing treat, we hit the town and grabbed some food and back to the hotel we went for a movie. We had to make a point to relax a little.  What a fantastic first day
